Plastic bag tax raises more than £2m for Northern Ireland environment
In the last year, £2.2m has been raised for an environment fund as a result of the 5 pence plastic bag charge. This money will be used to support 24 projects, from bird and bat monitoring to maintaining butterfly habitats.
As well as these amazing investments, the 5p charge has resulted in the use of single-use plastic bags dropping by two thirds.

Carbon Dioxide Levels in the Atmosphere Hit Highest Level in 3 Million Years
A recent National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) report revealed that the Pilocene Era (3 million years ago), was the last time that atmospheric carbon dioxide levels were as high as they are today.
"We've done in a little more than 50 years what the earth naturally took 10,000 years to do", Martin Siegert, co-director of the Grantham Institute at Imperial College London, told NBC News.

Liverpool FC introduce food digester machines at Anfield
As part of Liverpool FC's Reds Go Green initiative, they've partnered with Iugis to install an innovative food waste solution at Anfield. The food digester machines use microorganisms and oxygen to turn food waste into water. As a result, the need for off-site transport is reduced and less waste is sent to landfill.
