Just Eat and Unilever brand Hellmann's to reduce plastics through seaweed sachet trials
Just Eat and Hellmann's have teamed up to trail Notpla's seaweed sachets. Notpla is one of the companies that Sky Ocean Ventures have invested in and they have come up with a naturally biodegradable packaging that is made of seaweed!
65 London restaurants have already started offering a range of Hellmann's sauces in Notpla's sustainable packaging and there are plans to expand the trial to other cities.
A study in nursery waters off Hawaii has found that plastic outnumbers juvenile fish seven to one. Unfortunately, it appears that plastic has been building up in the same areas that young fish gather to feed and grow. This means that the fish are mistaking the plastic particles for food and ingesting it.
High-street chains sign up to refill pilot to reduce single-use plastic packaging
City to Sea has just announced a new pilot to expand their successful Refill campaign! Rather than just being able to see where to fill up your reusable bottle, users in Oxford and Bristol will be able to see where they can fill up their coffee cup, lunch-box, groceries and even cleaning products and toiletries!
Companies such as Pret, Costa, ASDA, Morrisons and LEON have already signed up to the pilot alongside 70 independent businesses. To find out more, click here
